Good point - could contain some if his working demos for his Queen tracks.

Having said that, the set is a summary if his solo work, so I am doubting that.[/QUOTE]

Where do you draw the line?

Solo albums are obvious, but what about a band where he's only the vocalist? What about the Cross tracks where he isn't a vocalist?

A Queen track written by Roger (and sung by Freddie) isn't any less irrelevant

I draw the line after The Cross - I think if you exclude their material from a Roger 'solo' box set then you've missed the point of your audience demand somewhat!

Queen stuff can appear on Queen releases, whereas there will never be a simple The Cross box set release, so it either comes here in The Lot, or it doesn't get ever released really.

very excited about this!

one thing I find weird though; is the majority of the guitar work on the record done by roger himself? he's a very capable rythm player, but not much of a soloist!

the dvd should be a live concert. there will never be a stand alone release of a 1994 RT gig, or a 1990 Cross gig :/

I'm kind of hoping for some of the Winterhall gig on there when Rog sang Fat Bottomed Girls...but I'm doubtful that would happen.

I also doubt we'll get a full gig on the DVD along with the promos. BUT I wouldn't be surprised to get a few live tracks...

what i'm curious about is if there will be included some collaborations (w/ kansas, al stewart, bob geldof, whoever, etc. pp.).
that would be hard to draw a line in terms of what to choose. there's quite a lot stuff.

...and of course if there will be included some "reaction"-recordings. which obviously are known to exist now for being shared here recently...

but let's face it, folks... most likely we will HAVE to listen to the complete "olympic theme" in a few weeks. for what THAT is worth :-)

yeah! cyberbarn would be nice. as would be the paris gig from '94. as would be the life version of "foreign sand" w/ yoshiki. somewhere in that package there HAS to be some space for roger's wonderful WWRY-rendition. (brian surely would second that. *lol*)

i don't think there will be a lot of tracks included that started with queen. except, of course, for the QPR-ones. it wouldn't make sense anyway because queen is a completely different cup of tea (whilst i see "the cosmos" mainly driven by roger)... well, we know when we do. nevertheless. for me it would me most interesting to hear some tracks from the '91-'95 era that didn't leak yet!!!

I suspect that Queen tracks will be excluded from this set as this would go against the nature of this project. While the official live versions of "Man On Fire", "EHSometime", "Old Friends", "Surrender", "Tonight" and "No More Fun" (the last three have evident studio overdubs) might be included, I think that "Wild Wind", "IWTBF", WWRY", "Ga Ga" and "TATTOOL" haven't been considered for inclusion.

Same go for covers or collaborations. I can't imagine common covers performed by RT being included either (Rock N Roll, Voodoo Child, Heroes, War Is Over, etc).

True. As long as they stick to strict rules regarding the selection and it doesn't feel haphazard like the 40th anniversary bonus material selection.

I think we will not see any of the studio collaborations as most were Roger guesting on their work. Yes we did see a bit of that on Freddie's box but I'm betting not here. I also would 99.9% say there would be no Queen studio tracks here.

I disagree about the live B-Sides and think they probably have been considered and likely think they might be included.

I also would not be shocked to see some of the other recent RT covers on there. I remember when QOL posted a few vids from Winterhall (Say It's Not True and Heroes), one of the posts by the admin team after inquiries of any more vids from the gig, said that it was the last one they were releasing...'at least til Roger's releases next year....in a cryptic teasing fashion.

SO I would bet they are at least being considered. A lot changes in a few years time but at the time they were definitely under consideration.

You have to admit that it's a somewhat artificial line, when two out of the three Cross albums are no more 'solo' material than the work he recorded with Queen. ;)

I understand the point of collecting his work outside Queen, but I would also have thought about whether any material is ever going to be released in a Queen boxset...

Ofcourse collaborations won't be included. It would be waaaay to much of a hassle to get the copyrights from all the various labels and recordings involved - and frankly, do we really think that Roger even cares about some track he sang some backing vocals on ~40 years ago? The only one which IMO deserves to be included is Hilary Hilary as it's basically a solo-track with a different lead-singer. Let's hope they've also uncovered a RT-sung version of that! :D

His personal archive seems to be in better shape than Brian's going on the demos released a couple of years ago. I'd love to be proved wrong by Brian.
