I'm still trying to find the "ridiculous, gay and tasteless" bit in these pics. What's wrong with a lurex outfit for a guy that once used the nickname Larry Lurex? It was the 70's, baby. Elton John was never ridiculous as well.
Japanese kimonos, ridiculous? Darth Vader (or Superman!), gay? Pfft. And BTW Freddie never carried a gay flag with him neither it was his most evident quality or characteristic. Yes, he was "gay as a daffodil", but he never made himself look like a clueless clown because of that.
Adam is just a poor man's version of Liberace, that's it.
I will try as much as possible not to make comments on Brian and Roger's choice once again (they can do whatever the fuck they want, that's not the point), for all that they have done. But it seems that it's just for the money, unfortunately (younger audiences can and might buy Queen records - let's hope none with this aberration, can we? - more than old fans that are tired of the same compilations over and over and over), despite they don't needing any more of it (or do they?).[/QUOTE]

Superman or Kimonos are not gay or tasteless per se...
Until you have a guy doing a striptease or using Superman as some kind of erotic fetishism, which is by far more tasteless than a guy sitting and "drinking" from a fake champagne bottle.

Of course Freddie never carried a gay flag, but it doesnt change the fact that he had the gay clone look, using gay gestures etc etc.

As for Adam being a poor man version of Liberace, well, to be honest, I dont know a lot about Liberace so I cant give any opinion about it.

As for Roger and Brian milking Queen's music, well, you are right, it is because of the money, of course! hey could do another Smile (which would be 66% Smile, compared to 50% Queen) but the name Queen does sell a lot more, of course.
I could give my opinion about it but it would be totally off topic.

Now, the main point of this thread was because the OP found Adam Lambert singing Killer Queen on a couch "gay" (and we can imply he said gay not in the homosexual context of it, but on a very rude way) which is funny cause, as I said before, Freddie did a lot of other things a lot more embarrassing/gay whatever you call it.
At least this is my opinion!
Queen: Roger Taylor, Mike Grose, Freddie Mercury, Brian May.

Speaking of Queen Extravaganza why in Gods name didn't Queen pick Marc Martel for the job of lead singer.

Hell, I would pay good money to see that guy sing with Queen.......

Both BM and RT have made it clear that they have no wish to share a stage under the Queen name with someone who sounds anything like Freddie.

It won't happen

I can see why... A decent singer might take the spotlight away from Boger!

More likely RT and BM would be worried about the string of narrow minded baffoons they'd attract instead of an open minded audience!

@adamlambert put on an unreal show with the legendary @QueenWillRock. Quite possibly the best show I've been to yet.

People here are so clueless about Brian and Roger................clueless and downright mean. I almost feel sorry for the lot of you who seem so incapable of being anything but negative about anything they do.............almost.

Those 70s outfits weren't gay at all. They were completely heterosexual, tasteful, and of the time. Shit, I wear kimonos and spangles unitards and I've loved the ladies for as long as I remember. You guys have it SO WRONG.

Wow - some Queen fans are such assholes. So much bitterness and resentment. So much empty desire for attention on a forum, attacking someone simply because they're not Freddie Mercury. You people seriously need to get a life. This thread is proof that the only thing that will make some people happy would be to perform a resurrection. Alleviating perpetual closed-mindedness obviously isn't an option.

Full review of the Saskatoon show is pending. I'm sure you guys are going to love it...

So if the Saskatoon review is pending and glowing with tributes, seriously, what does that mean? That the collaboration is justified? That if the reviewer thought Nickleback was the best show ever and Q + AL is even better that justifies anything ? Best show ever? Compared to what? Nickleback? Queen in the 70s? Rolling Stone likes Q + AL, they hated Queen, but now they are being held up as examples of the tour's success. Do they have a stake in it (circulation, big fan base to appease) to praise them when they are a shadow of what the real Queen they trashed were? Do you question that?

You said in a previous thread that you haven't heard someone who has gone to the show complain, and only people who haven't seen the show are pissy. What does that mean? That people who only see videos online can't say that notes are flat, Roger's playing is lacking, Brian misses some notes? That's ridiculous, because if going to a show is the criteria for offering opinion, then there is a fantastic site for Queen fans called queen live.ca that is a sham as there is editorial comment that can't be valid as not only was the site host not at these concerts, he wasn't born yet. If the Progressive Conservative government is a thorn in your side, why haven't you changed things with your seat in parliament for Hamilton-Wentworth? Oh, you're not an MP! Therefore you can't speak up about government corruption and how the Harper government is mean spirited because you're "not there", correct, is opinion subjective to topics you favour?. You speak frequently about binary thinking, and speak of people who don't agree with your thoughts as being guilty of that. You contribute great stuff to the board, but your fandom has made you a binary thinker. Regardless of reason, people are "bad", "wrong", "assholes" for not liking the combo. You haven't seen Queen proper, how can you know of what you speak when people make fair comparisons?

"So much desire for attention on an empty forum"

Fixed.
