I half expected Adam to be joined by Brittany Spears as the whole thing was LA-kitsch. Not what one would normally expect from a Queen concert, but hey the last real one was in August 1986 and as people have already said, Freddie had his moments too. Seeing them in Sydney in 1976 as a 15 year old I was shocked, bemused and entertained when Fred did his strip act in the Kimono for Big Spender to the candy-striped hot pants for Jailhouse Rock. It brought the house down! It was fun, it was silly. Is this really any different? This is a concert by Queen AND Adam Lambert and this was his take on a classic, whimsical pop song. Not entirely to my taste but so what? Time to lighten up folks.

Choice of words from OP is inappropriate and incorrect to boot. This version of KQ was so "rock and roll". I remember seeing Zeppelin in '76 in NYC and during The Immigrant Song, Plant casually sashayed in a hammock Page strummed a ukelele whilst rolling in a field of fake patchouli and no one said "that ain't rock and roll." Go easy on the new guy, he's replicating the classic rock of years gone by, it's not like he's doing embarrassing literal off-Broadway shit. Further, James Hetfield announced via Twitter that he Metallica has retired Stone Cold Craxy from their live sets after hearing AL destroy the fuck out of that bitch and make it his own with his husky growling rock and roll voice. Rock and roll, wooooo hooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/QUOTE]
Husky growling Rock voice?
Can you dig up the quote?
I liked the performance, it's f*****g great that they're playing it again (well. ... Rufus and Brian I mean ;))
But HUSKY?
They must be out of their fucking mind (*or more likely kissing ass in a desperate bid to get another audience from the fanberts)
Death magnetic was a pretty good album, but I still really don't like those guys in Metallica. Music either.
I'll take Megadeth over them ANY fucking day. Even with Dave Mustaine's (live saving) conversion to hard liner pseudo Fox news "republican" these days.
I can ignore that, because he is truly an addict. It keeps him alive.
Anyways. In accordance with THAT ludicrous statement.... Adams couch was a far better prop than Roger's constructed drum kit solo

I don't like the way Lambert performs this song and many other songs. I also don't particularly like Freddie's pre-1979 performances. It's just not the style I enjoy watching. Still, when Freddie did stuff like this he made it work, because well, he was Freddie Mercury. There's a lot of ways he could perform and do on stage without looking silly, just think about the "crowning" at the end of each Magic Tour show. Lambert is not even close to being such a performer and legend. I saw Queen+AL live in 2012 and enjoyed the show a lot. I'm sure I'd enjoy a 2014 show too. This does however not mean that I enjoy looking at Adam, even though I think he is a much better and suiting front man for Queen than Paul Rodgers.
Also, keep in kind that when Freddie did stuff like this it was the 1970s, a time when even ABBA looked "gay" (to use the term the topic of this thread uses). In the 1980s Queen and Freddie looked very differently. Even at the Works tour shows Freddie's behaviour and performance was much more "manly", despite him wearing a similar outfit to the mid-70s leotards. This era of Queen preformances is my faourite.
Freddie never looked like Boy George for example. And I'm pretty sure that if Freddie was alive today we would see him do shows in the style of the 1989 music videos rather than in Adam's style. This I think is why many fans are dissapointed Adam's preformances.

Yes. Good point. Add your experience to all the others, fake boobs, black leather hot pants etc, why is what Adam Lambert doing such a problem.
The other thing that no one seems to have noticed is the great response from the press and audience, alike, to the first show.

What is it with all the homophobes on QZ of late? Doesn't FOX News have a forum?
Anyway, when listing all of the unpleasant traits of Queen + AL, you've got so much to choose from that sexual orientation comes just before "pro-mammal speciecism".

Kindly fuck off with that shit right there. It's not a fucking choice. As for other people calling Lambert's performance "too gay" and other shit like that, fuck off.
I didn't like the performance, his stage-act just seemed too forced and contrived, his singing and phrasing was odd as well.

At least you had the good sense to respond in a mature way and set an example .

could've been worse, but the camp delivery and manners seem more forced than anything.
brian is great as always.

Kindly fuck off? Mr.Nitroboy you are a real gentleman. Do I have cursed or attacked Adam? No, I don´t. If he choose to be who he is or if it´s because of genetics or whatever, I really don´t care. People have free will and I don´t waste my time trying to figure out why they do what they do. As I said before, I don´t care about artists personal lives. If you are homosexual and my early comment made you feel bad....I´m sorry, that wasn´t my goal. BUT...I have the right to choose what I like to see in a concert. Freddie was a diva, but the he was a rock diva. And I like rock performances. Adam is a broadway diva and I don´t like boadway in a rock concert. That is my opinion and I´m entitled to express it in a polite manner (as I did before). So you have to deal with it and if you have a point, instead to tell people to fuck off, try to show some manners and we can have a pleasant conversation.

hey hey hey. Fuck YOU. You moron.I rated the performance of Lambert. He brings a style reminiscent of Lady Gaga on Queen stage. This is sick!
You are ridiculous, because I don't write about you (Lambert fan) and you insult me, my remixes, etc.
You are cynical and you simply don't have nothing to say...
I wonder if you're so smart, in fact. Probably not.

Just to clarify why some people see parts of this thread as homophobic.
It is totally inaccurate to say Lambert's performance is too 'gay'.
'Gay 'refers to being sexually attracted to one's own sex.
I didn't notice him propositioning or shagging any blokes.
Campness is an inherent manner of behaviour or an acquired affectation and only some gay men are camp.
The vast majority behave in the same way as their straight counterparts.
Lambert's campness does not equate to gayness. It's just his style.
There are many straight men who are camp.
So stop mixing it up because it just comes over as ignorant.

My heroes, what have you done?

Rick true... this is just catastrophe ;///
@splicksplack - ok I'm really sorry, it was not good from me.
But this style is awful it is as I wrote above. He brings a style reminiscent of Lady Gaga on Queen stage... ;/
