Were you ever mocked at school for liking Queen?

I was never attracted to listening to Kiss, Yes or AC/DC, i preferred to listen to bands that was had a Queen influence in them like The Sweet & Pilot and even ELO were a great band.

I'd wager that part of the "for some reason" that other more straight-ahead rock bands are bigger in the US has to do with Freddie's sexuality.

Classic rock stations are programming for men in their 40s-60s. A band like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin or Aerosmith is going to be a safer bet than Queen, even though I know they're more respected and popular than they were even 15 years ago.

Than why is Elton John an Icon? In the Metal world Priest are considered the Metal Gods? ..I agree in the 80's this was a problem. I remember being A huge priest fan in the 80's and people giving me a hard time about how gay Halford was....I still get that with Freddie a bit, but anyone over 40 don't or shouldn't care about that. With all the talk about Queens popularity in America....do people realize They're in the top 50 in record sales of all time? Not great, but not so bad either.

Yeah it is a joke that the Americans snubbed Queen because Freddie fancied Men, yet today Adam Lambert is even more outrageous than Freddie ever was with his gayness
and over the top campnes. I wonder what the American homophones think about Lambert ?

Happystar, People in America don't talk much about Lambert...he's really a non factor. If he sells records here it's mostly teenage girls. I live in Ny, never do I hear anything about him. The real Rock fans of classic Queen think they turned into a Joke.

Just as a side note....when Rodgers played with them in NY....I remember hearing a conversation between two people who were saying they sounded pretty good, but they really need Freddie Mercury. Hinting they were good, but boring. This combo is ten times worse. Embarrassing is the word.

Yeah Lambert with Queen is embarrassing and limp. How May & Taylor wanted to replace Mercury who is regarded the best ever in the business with Lambert is beyond me.

what hacks me off is that Brian whips up so much hype about Lambert and at one point he was saying Lambert is a better singer than Freddie ever was which is truly disrespectful to Freddies hard work in that band. May has become arrogant, crazy and self obsessed with Adam.

Hi everyone. I am 13 and I am fan of Queen. I discovered this band 2 years ago. I am the only pupil of my school being a real fan of Queen. Most people of my school listen to rap but I don’t like this type of music so I told only my friends that I was fan of Queen but they don’t want to talk about it because they are not interesting. Outside school I have a friend that I made her discover Queen. She became a fan and every time we met we talk about Queen and Freddie Mercury . It’s so cool !

You have great taste in music and discovering Freddie Mercury and what he stands for in this day and age is pretty special.
I can tell you Freddie was a very talented musician and a gentle soul off stage. He is more talented than any of the music artists of today, and he is classed as a rock legend and probably the greatest of them all. Enjoy Queens music, but dont abuse it by listening to Adam Lambert trying to sing Freddie's songs as that is just cruelty to music.

But I didn't know that Brian may said that Adam Lambert was a better singer than Freddie. That surprise me and I don't agree with him, for me Freddie is irreplaceable. A lot of singers can try to sing his songs and to imite him but they will never be as great as him. It's my opinion and it is not because Freddie died that one can be disrespectful towards him...
